Review: Halo 4
Halo 4's Spartan Ops replaces Firefight mode.
How many years has it been since Halo 3 was released? You, there, looking at the computer screen? 5? Yes, we all had to wait five whole years until we could further discover the story of Halo, even though Master Chief only had to wait four years to get out of cryo-sleep. Despite this, we are all very happy to yet again step out of a cryo-tube and into the cryo-bay of a UNSC spaceship. While I
am writing this, I am still thinking of more and more similarities between this game and the very first, Halo: Combat Evolved. First of all, as I mentioned before, the first thing you do is press a button and miraculously get out of a cryo-tube. Then, you collect Cortana and start fighting your way through a ship
about to crash. Another similarity is the fact that the only Covenant aliens are
Elites, Grunts, Hunters and Jackals, although, due to the presence of Gravity
Hammers, there are also Brutes, though they only appear in a cut scene. Some new armor abilities include Hard light shields, Promethean Vision, Thruster Packs and much more. The love story about
the Didact and the Librarian, two Forerunner beings, is further continued in the
actual plot itself, instead of the terminals in forerunner
structures.
The new Promethean weapons - the weapons used by
the new enemies - are quite dangerous, incinerating the remains of their victims, but the irony is that Master Chief is
awakened after four years and stranded on a Forerunner world with new weapons
and technology all around him, and he instantly knows how to fire and reload
them. Am I right?
Every time you get the chance to look at
something other than the foreground, namely the background, you will almost
certainly be met with awe-inspiring views of massive, beautiful planets in the
sky, or wondrous jungles and oceans, along with other amazements. The gameplay
is just wonderful! I usually can't play games on Xbox or PlayStations because I'm
too used to having a keyboard and a mouse as a controller, but with games like
Halo, it just doesn't matter the littlest bit. The controls are the slightest
bit different from Halo Reach. Sprinting is also no longer an armor ability, you can just do it anyway. I will not hesitate to say that my
favourite weapon from the whole batch is the SAW. It has a very high rate of
fire and the bullets are quite strong as well. The iconic weapon of the game is
the all-new sticky detonator, which basically shoots humanity's own sticky
grenade, which can be detonated at will.
The game also features a new Spartan Ops gameplay mode, which is a weekly mission accessible
with Xbox live Gold Membership. It is playable with Single player or Co-op and replaces the firefight mode.
Speaking of multiplayer, The 'Infected' mode is now replaced with 'Flood' mode,
which is basically one player starts as a flood combat form and the others are
all humans, and the goal for the zombie is to infect others, whereas the goal for
humans is to survive. You can no longer play as an elite in
multiplayer. The Halo 4 Co-op lets Player One play as Master Chief, as always, Player Two play as Master Chief, Player Three play as Master Chief, and Player Four play as Master Chief, even though players three and four can only join in through Xbox Live. Having everyone play as Master Chief, Co-op mode sure gives you a lot of variety, doesn't it? (I'm being sarcastic.) This game also sees the return of Forge mode, which allows you to edit and test multiplayer maps, the limits being map boundaries and budget, which is basically a type of currency used to buy items such as weapons, vehicles, armor abilities and so forth.
I still have so much to discuss and everything, such as the difficulty of killing Promethean Knights with grenades and the annoying presence of Particle Beam Cannons being too incessant. But, overall, I
liked the game so much, and I think it is so amazing, that I am going to give it
a.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. 9.5 OUT OF 10!!!!!!! It was that good! No joke!
Well, my time is up, and I hope you can all get revenge on those blasted, traitorous elites and tormenting those tiny Grunts. Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! Bye!
Score: 9.5/10
