Review: Minecraft 1.4.2 'Pretty Scary Update'
Today, I shall be reviewing the new update of the popular game, Minecraft. A lot of people like it, but some gamers don't like it, and I feel sorry for those (hopefully) few lost souls. So, before they turn off their internet saying, 'hurumf!',
let's get into this review!

Review: Minecraft 1.4.2 'Pretty Scary Update'
New Flower Pots and Item Frames.
Hey Miners! The new update of Minecraft is here, and I'll say, it is AWESOME! I feel the urge to share with other people more than I feel the urge to...live? It's that good. But I digress. Let's get on with it then. The update has added so much stuff, I'll have to start with ones in specific sections of the inventory. In the building block section, they have added cobblestone walls, which act exactly like fences, and are even crafted the same, except with cobblestone instead of sticks. There are also item frames, which are purely decorational, although you can use them to store single items. When you
break the frame, it releases whatever is inside. They have also added 'heads,' which are placeable versions of specific mob heads. These include Creepers,
skeletons, Wither skeletons and even a Steve head, although that is only
obtainable through creative mode. The Wither skeleton is one of three new mobs,
explained below.
The Wither skeleton is a new type of skeleton
that spawns naturally in Nether fortresses, commonly with Blazes. They wield
stone swords and are about 1 tenth taller than normal skeletons and inflict a
new type of poison called Wither effect. Correct me if I'm wrong. The other two
new mobs are witches and bats. Bats are harmless but annoying mobs that spawn in
the dark and fly everywhere, and when in small spaces can make it difficult to
place blocks. They are also quite fast, so don't bother trying to kill them.
Witches spawn in swamp huts and attack you with all kinds of negative
potions.
You can use the head of a Wither skeleton to create a
Boss mob, called a Wither. You make it by arranging soul sand in a T shape, like
you would with the iron golem. You then place three Wither skeleton skulls along
the top of the soul sand. At this point, I recommend retreating at a sprint
pace, as the Wither will recharge it's health and blow up. It will then go on to
attack any mob (or player) that is not undead. At half health, the Wither
becomes immune to arrows. Upon death it will drop a Nether Star, which can be
used to craft a beacon, which is put at the top of a solid gold, diamond, iron
or emerald pyramid to give the player powers and shoot a beam through the
sky. There is also a way of steering pigs now! you have to put a carrot on a stick and ride a pig,
looking the way you want the pig to go. Now we can get the pig off a cliff acheivement! YESSS!!!
Flower pots have also been added to the game. You can get
a flower, mushroom, sapling or cactus and place it in the flower pot, making it a pretty
decoration.
A new feature is that items and mobs can now go through the Nether. There are also wooden buttons, which take longer to end their redstone signal. There is also a new way of placing sidewards logs; they can only be between two normal, upwards logs.
I think other people agree with me when I say that 1.3.2 and 1.4.2 are connected. There is also something rare that happened on the 31st October 2012, where some skeletons and zombies would spawn with pumpkins on their heads, preventing them from catching fire in daytime.
Thus ends my review. There is at least 8 other things that I forgot to mention in this review from all the excitement. I would rate the update, compared to the others, 8.5 out of 10. Please comment in the blog.
